well I return from a 2 week sojourn in the USA, nothing to do with music, but hey, you have to do something else with your life sometimes... what can I say, mind blowing would be an understatement... I was pretty relieved to get home, no hyped up super turbo charged TV, our adverts seem like Shakespeare compared with the constant barrage of American TV. The vastness of the country seems to engender a small-mindeness in people, and fat, I thought England was becoming obese, but fat like it was an Olympic entry requirement.. I was thankful for a dry biscuit and a cup of Typhoo when I got home... there is so much wrong with America it seems the wrong is now overtaking the right, my America of Chuck Berry and all night food purchase seems to be smaller consolation for the omnipresence of economic downturn, the abject poverty caused by a retreating dollar.. Iraq, a numskull President... no amount of stunning vast wilderness country and unbelievable beauteous National Parks and free open opportunity can make up for the big black hole of greed and American Idol bombardment,,, America, you can ******’ keep it, I’ve got the Archers, and a quiet little bedsit with The Rolling Stones and The Scars and a little Island that doesn’t make you feel like a lost soul in a huge planet.. sorry America, you’re gone, baby gone.. and Art, I went to the Guggenheim, ******’ crap, was I the only one asking for my money back and complaining, security following me around incase I touched anything, The Tate Modern pisses all over the Guggenheim, I bought New York Time Out to see what was ‘happening’, it was barely readable the writing was so bad, are 3 year olds writing this stuff ?? This is one lost and struggling continent, and music, ***** up, collegiate ‘by numbers’ indie, The Wombats come back , all is forgiven.

All those 'olden's' predictions are coming true, Johnny Lydon, the superGod of 16 PIL albums and the heroic Metal Box, once said it, now its my turn. 'THE FEELING', what a dreadful state of affairs, take the worst bits of the Buggles, Supertramp, Leo Sayer, Elton John, Eagles (don't get me wrong - I love all these bands), a covers band who have just been playing to the super-rich in Alps Ski-resorts (no different then), ask Jo Wiley to put them on her show, and wham-bam, you got the next contenders for 'drain all the soul out of music and replace it with bits from these previously mentioned bands', the Feeling, I ****** hate them, am I alone now - yes probably, please back to the Ski Resort boys and take Jo Winey with you..
by the way Jo, while we're at it, your the only person on Radio 1 I didn't send my CD to, I don't care that no-else plays it, as long as you, or your producer don't get one, thats all that counts - actually thinking about it Jo probably discovered The Feeling whilst ski-ing with her super-rich buddies in the mountains, christ I wish there had been an avalanche........

i was just reading about Leona Lewis, actually an interview with her Dad, who says she is living in a 1 bedroom flat in Hackney, whilst I realise a 1 bedroom flat in Hackney could be quite desirable these days it does make you question the ideals behind the million pound advance she has had,,, the record company (SONY BUMG ?? Simon 'Karaoke' Cowell) loan her a million quid, then nick it back off her to pay for recording / video / promotion, a few clever bits of crooked accounting, child labour style contracts, mixed in with some exploitation, and the fact that she was never a newcomer since she went to the swish stage school 'Brit School' preening her for fame, and what do you have, corruption, rip-off of epic proportions, and some shiny turd of records that are blown in the water by artists like Jill Scott, Amy Winehouse, Chaka Khan, Fergie... , so when everything is paid for, cross-collateralized, and all the managers, lawyers, Simon (Karaoke) Cowell, and SONY BUMG have been paid, what will she be left with if they can't break her somewhere, nilch.. the terrible and shocking thing about all this, is that she could have been developed, recorded, video'ed for a tenth of that, and a dozen other talented bands could have been invested in, distributed, and published, and then still give £100,000. to charity - they are ******* of the n'th degree, quite why these labels are doing business in this way in the 2000's is reprehensible, and why no-one has the guts to stand up to mother fixated insulting baby Simon (Karaoke) Cowell is beyond comprehension.

I was just watching a thing on these 'pro-life' people, who want to execute doctors, and execute women who take some control or choice in their lives and have abortions... shouldn't they all be locked up instead... yes they're locking up the wronguns, lock up the pro-lifers please and let everyone else out... what can I say about a nation that sells automatic weapons in wal-mart, and then locks up people for running around shooting people, ironic... ban the NRA, lock up the pro-lifers, and put George Bush at the head of the queue... its a strange thing these 'pro-lifers'... so flippen’ innovative I want to blow my fleppin’ brains out, its only pop music, but has anything superseded this, I don’t think so... I just got Bowie’s Platinum 4 Cd set , every tracks a monster theme tune to a generation, with constantly shifting walls, image, can this ever be beaten, well its not at the moment, its so searing its Heavy Metal... you can’t really believe he even managed to top the charts with this stuff its so outrageous, it will still burn your mind out, and these are only the hit singles!!! what about the amazing albums like, ‘Low’, ‘Diamonds Dogs’, It makes me wanna pack my bag and get to the hut and play an acoustic guitar til the sea eats me up... how do bands like the Kooks stand it, making those little Bowie-esque ditties, then listening to ‘Changes’ to see how its really done, I’m surprised they don’t wanna kill themselves, although we all wish they would - so take my ruddy advice - for what's its worth, burn Sugarbabes and Oasis, let them burn in hell, do 1 second like Bowie and you may have lived some sort of life
