I'm sure Werner's not really bothered, (whether I like them or not),,, he is doing his thing, he is the type of director who would be piling his own drilling bit into the ground in search of Oil even if he knew none existed, just to see the metal go in to the earth.. its hard to believe the budget (or lack of it) on these movies... I like the story about how he had 1000 pigs in the mountains in Aguirre, but he had to ditch the shot because they we're all suffering mountain sickness.... he's been shot at, had physical altercations with Kinski, so on... what has really struck me about this Werner Herzog box set is the quality of the filming and the music... there is nothing of low buget about it, everything becomes apparent, slowly unfolding, the dialogue is cut to the bone, everything in Kinski's on-screen brooding.. beautifully shot, brilliantly acted - absolute genius.. extraordinary stuff... I'd like to think of a musical equivalent of Herzog, but its hard to imagine... I'd be deluded to think I could achieve 1 nonosecond of what he has achieved, literally laying his life on the line for his art... all you can do is try..
I went to uTube.con today, actually just to look at my own vidj's, and was quite surprised to see how many people have viewed them, am I being paid for that ??? I will of course be writing to uTube.con to ask for my monies,,, but in the meantime I had a quick looksie at a couple of other band thingies, like some classic Jesus & Mary Chain vidj's, and I was shocked at the comments... People are so rude and ignorant and negative, I was amazed, some of them I couldn't even understand, the grammar, and spelling were so dismal... are all these things being watched by 10 year olds and they think these are new bands??... well , even if they thought that, these would still be cutting edge works compared with the constant repetitive drivel trotted out by MTV , and all the other vidj stations, so glossy, touched up, and meaningless you may as well be watching Porn... I have stopped any comments on mine, as , what's the point ??,, you get a 5 year old watching the vidj, they won't understand music that I made for the over 30's, or visuals I made for the those more likely to be watching Herzog than Wall-e... all-in-all , I was pretty disgusted that uTube.con allow this sort of stuff to go on... its easy to slag stuff, especially when you aren't doing anything creative or interesting in your own life, at least I can say I am making music / visuals, and competing in some way... why do people comment, why not just move on to something they like ??!
Even more surprising was seeing John Lydon on the teatime MOR show 'One Show' yesterday evening, the Irony of the situation seemed to be lost on all present, even maybe Johnny, although he was as cutting and intelligible, as well as quick witted as ever,.... His world-wide infamy brought to prominence by the (at-the-time) outrageous behaviour on teatime show leading to the fall of Bill Grundy,,, and now Johnny the pillar of teatime viewing (although it was a little bit spiky)... Steve Jones c'mon we need a new anchor for Newsnight..
Karaoke is back, well , it never went away really did it ?? the endless trotting out of Karaoke style acts on TV singing along to some old hit backing track, a Simon Cowell type deciding whether its the next big thing or not,,, and suddenly its all over the trendy Indie world of Rock with hot Karaoke Act, the Ting Tings, has anybody noticed ?? they sing and play along to backing tracks... any problem and the track is still burbling away in the background... if I was them (and getting away with it), I would put a couple of ******' records on, get the old hologram thing working and have a rest in the dressing room, because, from where I am standing the poor little soul standing at the front screaming her head off that she doesn't have a name (?!) (this is the novelty hit isn't it ??) she is just about to lose her voice... we all know that she would prefer to be in the Sugarbabes so they ain't fooling me.. Karoake I can stomach, Ting Ting's - NO! - in a few year's time she'll be launched on her own, do a terrible ex-Texas Charlene Spiteri type album trying to mimic the neu-soul stylings of Duffee & Adele, and wham-bam it'll all be over...
not exactly clogging up the roads, as yet, but you know, we people (you know eeerrr,,, humans) always innovate in our own way... as fuel runs out and becomes outrageously expensive (not of course because we are running out on the planet, but because Oil companies and energy suppliers are getting greedier and greedier and they are allowed to do it).. so put on another jumper (so says the boss of Centrica) "thanks gitto" - do you think he'll be wearing 2 jumpers ??! we'll all be out in the forests, stealing wood, trying to make ends meet till you die (thanks The Verve),, horses & carts will be back, it just about has to be the most environmentally friendly way to get around, they eat grass, and let you run around on them... and they're a good deal faster than the 20 mph Golf Cart buggies that they are taxing and allowing on the Roads in the USA, where some people are having a go at beating the fuel problem... has anyone head of horses there ?? even the Police are using them, although I don't think they'll be any fast 'getaways' in them, and they might have to think about the safety of an open-cart buggy on the roads... the picture tickled me though... seems like you could walk faster, or even cycle (you know its one of those recent new fangled inventions, 2 wheels - unbelievable what they can do these days) and it would keep you fitter, unless you're incapacitated, then you would be in a wheelchair anyway,, can they go on roads ?? not sure... here's the pici and the story.. I liked it anyway

its a strange thing the Mercury Music Prize, because, where does the Mercury bit come in, is it something to do with the periodical table, or the Mercurial delights of the nominees,,, well , what can you say about the nominees, you wonder where these people choosing this stuff get off... Robert Plant ??!! an album so dismal and lacking in any musical merit, its unlistenable dirge washes over you as you imagine the old rocker in some room with Alison Krauss, yuckeroo,,, and Radiohead, its hardly their best work, Adele ??!! c'mon , your having a laugh aren't you ?? the thing about it is that they obviously keep on picking bands who almost immediately fade into obscurity,, so they have had to pick a few recognisable ones this year to give the thing some credibility, as its already a laughing stock... but the albums have to be a bit 'lefty' of field, otherwise why not have done with it and choose Sugarbabes and Take That.. we'll see how long we have to put up with Adele for, another album packed full of nostalgia for those kiddies who have never heard any soul music before.. cripes... if it was any good or any use to anyone apart from the huge major labels pushing the 'same-old-same-old' you would have a large number of unknowns, Blues bands, Indie Acts, R&B artists, (Estelle is good live but its a very boring album),, , country, rappers, where are all the successful Asian UK Asian acts ???!!! c'mon, Robert Plant??, the album is ******' tripe.
sounds like a Rock ‘n’ Roll star doesn’t he... was there someone called Duane Chambers in the MC5 or something ? there’s Duane Allman, was he the one married to Cher ?? a quick lookup on goolies would find that out, but who can be ******’ bothered with all the gooolie s***... Aren’t all athletes pummelling bucket loads of enhancement drugs down their gobs,,, I would , when there’s only a millionth of a second in some races.. its obvious just looking at their superhuman efforts that they are all high on mega body-boosting drugs, whether they be slightly illegal, slightly legal, the fact of the matter being is THEY ARE GETTING AWAY WITH IT, and Duane Chambers got caught.. I don’t know what the British Athletics Association are doing, its obvious he can run twice as fast as anyone else even without any drugs, and they won’t let him in the Olympics... who ******’ cares whether he takes drugs or not, certainly not me... at the Age of 16 I could barely get out of bed in the mornings, let alone commit myself to endless years of getting up at 4 am every day, running for 10 miles, all day long practice, superhuman efforts, they are the superheroes of our times, and all we get is ******* Kylie this, and ******’ Madonna that and those little c**** on Big Brother, let Chambers in, and the rest of them, make it an even playing field by getting rid of doping tests... they are inaccurate, sporadic, badly executed, unscientific, lacking in parity, and clarity... Duane, looksie here, your a hero, I’m on your side.. **** ‘em ... what ******’ makes me laugh, is, that ugly **** model bird, you know, gappy teeth, takes a load of drugs with Pete (I can barely lift a guitar pick) Doherty, wotsername, and she lands a trillion dollar deal with Revlon,,, the Irony is making her stink, but not from Channel, more from poo poo. What they don’t like about Duane Chambers is that he comes across as arrogant, and ofcourse he is black, the BAA being a load of racist b*******, if it was Paula Radcliffe she would have been back in like a shot.
Just got the Warner Herzog box set, I’ll be reveiwing later!
in a way it should be renamed the 50th element, so many film releases, yet TV stations have only bought 4 films, one of them being the 5(0)th element... so relentless is their insistence on battering us with endless repeats... its an ok film, but not when its been on 500 times, who is watching all this stuff ?? and typical CH4, anything good like the Sopranos, Larry David is on about midnight, who is up at this time ?? I have to praise the new comedy LabRats, old format, which actually looks quite innovative compared with the endless tripe masquerading as comedy at the moment .. it just goes to show the 'whacky' does not necessarily a good comedy make, just good writing and believable characters,,, another winner from Armando Iannucci , I am a big fan of 'In the Thick of It'... this is one consistent and quality writer, great stuff.. if only TV had more people like this...
I am thinking of writing a song called 'Id wish Id had a life of crime'.. it would be a field day for those trying to spot grammatical errors... it could be semi-autobiographical, I can hear the chorus now, "I'd wished I'd had a life of crime, but all that's happened has rubbed my nose in the grime" to a Dolly Parton sorta tune... I can see myself at the Country Music Awards now, 'many thanks for this brilliant Award, I'd like to thank my vocal coach and the postman'.. because crime (not grime!) does pay... look at the News of the World, consistently crap, a crime against paper, yet raking it in, who buys this rubbish ?? then Canada... environmentally friendly types with prison for anyone not separating their waste in to 20 different types of recycled materials, and Jail for anyone found catching a lobster before all the Inuits have had theirs... and irony on irony - most of Alberta is now turned over to the most environmentally damaging form of surface mining, extracting Oil from sand,, greedy wee people churning up their land for a few extra dollars... a life of crime, I wish I had it in me to defame the public and rape the landscape,,, big money for all.. what a world.. eerrr 'News of the World'
in a way you need a lot more bottle to be an artist now, (in comparison to say,,, the 70's or 80's, or even the 90's) whatever idiom you are working in, because of the web... any print media, its here today, gone tomorrow, but, the web is constantly there like an ever looming, impending disaster, its hard to think what benefit the web has had,, hundred's more tonnes of Porn, never ending lawsuits, fights, insults, web rage, terrible badly written reviews by student journos, novices, all-in-all, any sense of mystery, & irony has gone,... the web is really ruled by huge conglomerates, and 15 year old kids surfing around, no wonder its all uTube, mySpace & Bebo... I am trying to think of the benefits but its hard to imagine this-morning.. I know a couple of people who don't really get on the web and there lives aren't lacking in anything... the idea that you can get education, buy goods cheaper, get better service is a bit of a 'no', as the quality of their lives seems little different, and may be better, so, I am thinking , it won't be much longer before I take all my stuff down,,, it doesn't make the music any better does it?, and getting comments from 10 year olds who lack the brain power and any experience or irony or appreciation of anything apart from High School Musical is all too depressing... it must be even worse for people like Madonna and Chris Martin, for every adoring fan there are dozens of insults (including mine) and bad behaviour... the money I am sure is a buffer, but when your gone all that terrible stuff is still there, hardly fitting tributes to lives spent making an Art.. the web is like the big bully looming in your life, although the point being one can walk away anytime... and that time is coming I feel... does the web ever cheer anyone up?, perhaps some bored office workers who are sending strange funny pictures to each other or going on tiny. web sites seeing how many bums can fit over the face of a dog... will it all implode, probably... the snooping, gathering of info' from you, the whole big brother thing.. its all gone too ffaaarrr.. I am trying to think what demonstrations, what revolution, what protests or change have really been made by the web and I struggle.. it is still all down to human endeavour and little of what can be appreciated in life is on a screen in front of you..
its a climb down, a step down, a retreat, a backtracking, although Jacqui Smith and Gordon Brown wouldn't call it that, they would refer to a 'learning of lessons', 'revision of policy after debate & public consultation', a 'radical reform in order to make gains within the fiscal sector reflecting considered lessons learned, and some lessons have been learned'... you think they would have some bloody idea, how many centuries of politics have we had in this country?, didn't we invent democracy ?? So they've gone back on their ill thought out, head in the clouds and completely thick policy of getting hoodies to visit stab victims in hospital as part of their rehabilitation... would you want to help rehabilitate the person who'd stabbed you?, I know what I would want to do with them ?? As ‘stabbing crime' (good name, must remember that,,, would make a good band name, anyone used it yet?) cascades across our communities, effecting everyone, even if its a media frenzy to scare us all in to staying at home so we can cut spending, saving the economy from freefall (or does it work the other way round ? who knows ?), Jacqui Smith, the 3 day old policy gets bundled under the carpet in 3 hours... We all know what its about don't we, we're spending a million a day in Iraq, to try and get our greedy wee feckin' hands on their Oil, but we refuse to build any more prisons... Judge's have been told to stop sending people to Prison as there aren't any (Prisons)... well I have news for you, I want my money spent on Prisons,, lots of them, all on Canvey Island (sorry Dr Feelgood), or in Rochester, or Aberdeen,, in fact don't bother doing that, just compulsory purchase a bunch of empty derelict warehouses (there's enough of them after John Prescott's disastrous reign), for pence, throw all the knife crimers in, chuck in some food every week and a Jeyes toilet cleaner block, and throw away the *****' key... because as someone who has been a victim of violent crime I want their Human Right's stripped, take away the TV's (who is paying the TV license for Prison's ??!), computer games, and reinstate hard labour. Its all about the money, because Gordon Brown has tried every stupid pathetic waste of time scheme in order not to spend money on new Prisons... so all right, get out of Iraq, Police on street corners again (it worked in New York!), and tough sentences... seems easy doesn't it, well that would be too easy for Politicians wouldn't it ?!
Dame Katie Price, Sir Peter Andre, - why not ?? everyone's getting some sort of order of the realm now aren't they ?? I looked at an old lady crossing the road the other day , I think my Dame-ship is in the post, GO GO GO LITTLE QUEENIE.... why doesn't everyone who's had Cancer get an OBE, ****** KYLIE, height challenged down-underer,, it can't be for any other reason can it... The tireless and selfless work people put in to charity, volunteering, sporting achievements, and Kylie gets something for her contribution to UK music, well **** me, when I lasted looked the contribution was a set production line of meaningless pop crap, one half decent song, and a relentless load of fillers that Kylie will have trouble remembering in 10 years time.. its not exactly John Lennon is it... have we now started giving OBE's to non-citizens,,, how about one for Robert Mugabe, we once liked him didn't we (hang on, we did give him something that were trying to take away now didn't we ??) ? What gets me is how racist the Award's scheme is, Also it seems to be media led, who would ever think that Kylie would get an OBE, what has she done for Britain ??! at least Annie Lennox has made a significant contribution to Greenpeace. Did anyone notice that when Kylie came out from her Cancer treatment she had also had a facelift ??! These media typeeessss are so cynical aren't they (not me!)
